An Apple A Day...
Quote de jour
"Millions saw the apple fall, but Newton was the one who asked why."
~Bernard Baruch

What's almost better than chocolate? Sugar Crisp apples. They're at my local farm stand but not for long. They look like Galas but are juicier, sweeter and crisper. These beauties could have tempted Adam. Like all good things, they won't last long. I'm gorging on them while I can. And, they're good for you but then again all apples are. Know why the old saying, "An apple a day keeps the doctor away" is true?
8 Reasons to have an apple or two a day.
1) Apples have lots of vitamin C, good for our immune system.
2) Apples contain phenols which lower bad cholesterol and raise good cholesterol.
3) Apples are rich in flavonoids which are anti-oxidants, to prevent heart disease.
4) Apples are low in calories (70-100 depending on the size).
5) Munching on apples can reduce up to 80% of bacteria in mouth to prevent cavities.
6) Apples are good for the brain. They contain phytonutrients to help prevent Alzheimers and Parkinsons.
7) Apples are good for the lungs. Eating five or more apples a week lower respiratory illness.
8) Apples help prevent all kinds of cancer.
Of course they aren't a substitute for medical care but enjoy your apples anyway. But leave some Sugar Crisps for me!
