A True Ghost Story

In the spirit of Halloween week, I thought it fitting to include a ghost story. This actually happened to me. You can look at the photo and come to your own conclusions.

A couple of years ago I decided to celebrate Halloween with a big costume party. The plan was to hold the party indoors and later have a bonfire to roast marshmallows. We live in a neighborhood rich in revolutionary history. George Washington planned the battle of White Plains nearby, which coincidently took place on this date, October 28, 1776. Thousands of soldiers were bivouacked on our property, although our home wasn't built until 1860. Strange ocurences have happened in this house but that a subject for another story.

After midnight, a small group of us decided to brave the cold and settled around the small bonfire. We drank wine, roasted marshmallows and made merry. Nothing unusual happened. Yesterday, while scrolling through my photo archives for some interesting Halloween themed photos, I came across this one. It escaped notice previously because it wasn't a good shot. I thought there might be ghost orbs, so I cropped it. I played with the contrast and light but did not add or Photoshop anything.

What shocked me was not the number of orbs but a distinct face in the upper left side. If was not any guest or mask I recognized. Given the size of the head, it would need to be at least ten feet from the woman seated. The thing is, it's not possible for anyone to stand in that area. Directly behind the chair is a wooded are full of dense thorny bushes. Your guess is as good as mine but I'm guessing it's a bunch of spirits.
This Halloween, I won't be having a party but I will be having another bonfire and you can bet I'll have my camera handy.

Plenty of activity going on, and that face! Very distinct and yet no body and standing in an area no one could be... what a marvelous capture! Personally, this is one of the most confused Halloweens I've ever had. Most things are packed up and we're to be moving on Saturday. I don't think I'm going to know quite how I'm going to mark this holiday until it happens lol. I have a great shot from last year around this time though. My friends' house was chock full of orbs, there must have been at least a dozen in the shot... and the very next shot has not a single one. lol Guess they didn't like the flash.

    wishing you laughter

Thanks, Quinn for the feedback and good luck with the move!

I see another image...a lion face or...perhaps even satan himself located just to the left of the man whose head is bowed on the right side of the picture.
    Very cool...and spooky!

Thanks, I went back and zoomed in and saw some other faces within the orbs too!
