Cat Saturday # 9 -- Dia de los Muertos

Quote de jour
"The only mystery about the cat is why it decided to become a domestic animal."

~Sir Compton Mackenzie

This blog's Halloween week ends today with a Halloween themed Cat Saturday.
It's November 1st, dia de los muertos or day of the dead, the holiday to honor our dead loved ones and ancestors. During the witch hunt of the middle ages, not only women died but hundreds of thousands of cats perished by torture, burning and drowning. It's is in their memory that I dedicate a photo (above right) of my first Siamese cat, Mergatroyde. She lived for 15 years and was a joy, each and every day.

My cat Merlin, doesn't just loll around the house all day.
He has his own group on Gather.com called Friends of Merlin http://friendsofmerlin.gather.com
He held a Halloween cat photo contest and selected this lovely girl as the winner. He figured any cat willing to be dressed up in a ladybug costume deserved to win. Meet Gizzy, she is a mixed, short hair tabby who lives with two other cats and her human, Robyn F. who has promised Gizzy extra treats.

Ha. My boys, Cheddar and Mao, never gave into being domestic. They still insist THEY are the Gods and I am but humble slave.

I was willing to go along with that because of the perks afforded me, such as sleeping with me. But alas, they seemed to have abaonded my warm bed for others.

But they are guys. Need I say more?

    Ha

How? Elementary, dear one... they have a name for people like me... Slacker. lol I snuck some computer time when I shoulda been working my hind end off. Tomorrow will be a day to do last trips and Monday, I think, will be a day to settle in at the new house a bit and set things up... like my beloved Holly (my computer, named after a character from BBC's Red Dwarf)

I will eagerly anticipate your Samhain story when next we get a chance to chat... til then...

    wishing you laughter

Great photo of Domino w/ the pumpkin.
Wow, Mergatroyde's pose in the tree is priceless, and Merlin the Magnificent looks quite content snuggling under that comforter.
Regarding your remarks about the book you are speed reading "Are you a good witch or a bad witch?"
    Seizure later darlin'.

Mugg, that's not Domino but thanks! And all true witches are good. They believe in the rule of doing no harm.
