Googling is Good For Your Brain

I confess to being an Internet junkie. I want my information and I want it now. As a baby boomer with a memory of a gnat, I worried that all my Googling might be bad for me. You know, slowly turn my brain to porridge. Well, there's no need to worry. Scientists at U.C.L.A. have discovered that Internet searches are good for the brain. . It may even slow down the possibility of Alzheimers. MRI results show that reading text and Googling stimulate parts of the brain that control, language, memory, reading and vision. It activated our decision-making and complex cognitive reasoning power. According to psychiatrist, Gary Small, director of U.C.L.A.'s Memory and Aging Research Center says, "our study shows that when our brain is on Google, your neural circuity changes extensively." I now think of Googling as a stimulating hike or bike ride for brain. Excuse me, gotta go. I have some exercising, oops, I mean Googling to do.
To those friends who think I live on the computer, here's proof of me hiking. Really

Layla,
Great questions! One which I have thought about a lot. We as a society, are on "overload" with always on the "highway of information!!" Recently, I also have been reading that the more (esp. as we age), our brains take in ...the better we shall be. Along, with a healthy dose of exercise & a lot of laughter in our life...We will be more than fine. Now, if I could only look as great as you hiking?!
big smile,
mo-zy

I agree, absolutely. There are those, however, who say we are losing our attention, due to Googling and the Internet, computer use, generally. What did I just say? What did you just say? Not sure but it was very interesting.....But I have always believed we can channel our multiple attentional selves into multi-channel theatres........

You look marvelous my dear. LOL on Tinch's comment, greetings to you Tinch. Loved the article. I too had wondered if too much time on the computer was a good thing or not and now you have shown me that it's great exercise for those ole brain cells and I certainly can use that. Maybe it will help me remember where I put my car keys. LOL Be a wonderful week.
