It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like ....

"Perhaps the best Yuletide decoration is being wreathed in smiles."
Christmas? Yule or bankruptcy?
Believe it or not, I photographed these evergreen beauties the day after Halloween, at my local farm stand in Hartsdale. I had to blink. Just a few days before, it was a sea of orange pumpkins. At first, I resented the blurring of one holiday into another but then smiled with the memory of all the sun-ripened tomatoes I'd picked there. Westchester Greenhouses and Farm is the last working farm in the area and like many local businesses, they are struggling to make a living. They are open from Easter to Christmas, and I have no idea where their Latino workers go during the off months. I do know, where ever you live, you can help your local neighborhood businesses stay afloat with a little green.

This is so beautiful, so green, so cheery, so unlike the weather today here, which is slush-ice, but yes beginning to look a lot like Christmas.
Support farmstands. Oh yes, we have Wilson's produce, more than 100 years old, and Winchester Nurseries.

Wonderful holiday colors. Great photos and I so agree that we should support our local businesses. So many are struggling in this harsh economy and we all know that the small businesses will not be getting any bail out money. We the people are on our own. We must do what we can to help ourselves and each other.
