Expect the Unexpected
If you are a regular reader of this blog, you know I begin with a quote de jour. It may or may not be included as part of a photograph I've taken. To save time, I work on multiple photo collages daily. Some I use immediately, some I save for a future date like the one was inspired by a spectacular sky in Vermont a few months ago. I filed it away, thinking I'd save it for a special occasion. A few weeks ago, I began searching for it, through hundreds of files, but no matter how hard I searched, it eluded me.
The plan today was to dig into the files, choose something quick and easy and go back to bed. I've learned a long time ago, to expect the unexpected. Fate brought me to my knees once again, with death, illness and a multitude other challenges to contend with in the past week. I believe everything happens for a reason and the timing of all those things (as inconvenient as they may seem) serves a purpose. During my meditation this morning, I wanted to shake my fist at the gods though. It was dark thanks to no electricity (a broken breaker) which meant no hot water. It was cold (the oil delivery truck didn't arrive yesterday). The last thing I wanted to do was to blog.
Fast forward a couple of hours later, I'm sitting here with a shearling hat and vest on. There's some power but no hot water, but there's a little electric heat to prevent me from turning into a Popsicle. While the computer boots up, I look up at the icy sky through blinding tears and pray for a sign. I search through my photo collage files and burst out laughing. The elusive photo was right in front of my nose. What I didn't expect was today would be that special occaison. Oh, and the oil truck just arrived.

I'm glad the oil showed up!
What a beautiful sky.
I often wonder on days like that what I am supposed to be doing or what I can do.
Those special 'signs' are a gift.

So my question is this: What happened that it got cold in your house? I know you guys pay the heat, so was the furnace turning off?
I love this photo, so mysterious.
Life in Winter. Is. Like. Death. In. Winter.

Your words paint a picture of how life is. What a wonderful story and the picture is perfect. Let us all laugh at the sky, especially during the not so great times.
