Cat Saturday # 18-- Oh, Canada!
Quote de jour
"I was told the cat training procedure was difficult. It wasn't. I was trained in two days."
Welcome to Cat Saturday, where cat lovers congregate every Saturday. This week we're going global, with a cat of the week from Canada, a feral from the U.S. and a bevy of Italian kitties. Do you think cats look or act differently in other countries?
Last week, I featured the handsome Robin as Cat of the Week. This week, the honors go to his cute brother Renny. Renny was adopted from the Northumberland Humane Society in Ontario, Canada. For a small town shelter, they have an excellent Website worth checking out. There are some gorgeous pet portraits and interesting stories.

Renny's mom, Ann Brightman recounts how he came into her life."Renny was one of a large litter of tiny grey kittens born at the local shelter. All of them had tails that curled up over their backs, and when the cage door was opened, they poured out with their identical tails in the air and began exploring in all directions. The one we adopted caught our attention by instantly climbing up my sleeve onto my shoulder, and peering behind my glasses into the corner of my eye. We just couldn’t resist him! Because he was shelter-born, Renny has happily never known what fear, neglect or hunger are. But this meant we really had to watch him as he was growing up: he didn’t know what danger was and would get himself into scrapes without knowing how to get himself out again – like climbing the curtains right up to the ceiling, getting shut between doors, or trying to find a way inside the furnace ducts. Once, he even got inside the recroom ceiling! Now eleven years old, Renny isn’t as adventurous as he used to be, but my furry soul mate still enjoys a mad race around the house now and then."
A reader from in California asked to see a recent photo of my outdoor feral, Domino. He's doing well, but I've had no success turning him into an indoor cat. On really cold days, I lure him in to have his dinner in the entry hall, but that's it. He's fat and furry as a polar bear but I know he's dreaming of spring. Aren't we all?
He is feed on demand. Who can say no to this face?
This is my idea of kitty heaven. This is an old pic of me in Italy, surrounded by a whopping 10 cats. Cats have a way of finding me, or maybe it's the other way around. Ciao, ciao for now.

Who's the "babe" with the cats?

I love these cats, especially the picture of you with all the felines, in Italy.
We had a couple of feral cats. One we tried to keep indoors, but no luck. She killed 365 chipmunks in a year. Everyone to my front door.
I just love the kittys. Can't you tell?
Who's your kitty?

I love the shot of you surrounded by cats. What a warm and loving person you must be for all these cats to find you. The fact that that happens enough that you comment about it says a lot about you.
I'm so glad you are a cat person!

LOL, We are all attracted to the same picture of you it would seem! Could be birds of a feather, hmm? Funny how my kittys always found me too, my Smokey decided on me,then I hauled him all the way from Detroit to Phoenix! Definitely one highly indulged little man I have in him. The photo of Domino is wonderful. Reminds me of my Rufus, my first born and only girl. She blessed us with 17 years before she simply lay down and stopped more than 5 years ago now. I even published an obit for her in the paper, I'm told that's crazy cat lady!!
