More Reasons to Love India: Slumdog Millionaire

Quote de jour

If you haven't already seen the brilliant, feel-good-film of the year, go see Slumdog Millionaire. It captured the best film at The Golden Globe awards last night. I think I could hear the cheering all the way from Mumbai. The huge success of the-little-film-that-could will no doubt continue. I predict a sweep of all the award shows including the Oscars. With the world going to hell in a hand basket, we need more stories like this: of love, of triumph against all odds.

When I think of India, I think of color, especially vibrant to shocking pink and saffrons.  At this gray time of the year, I'm craving color. I photographed these dahlias months ago but their jolt of color is as fresh as yesterday.

    Hi Layla,
    I'm back to try again!!!
Thanks for sharing this moment of my country on your blog. Haven't seen the movie yet, but, as I saw it sweeping the Golden Globes; it sure made me proud and nostalgic. India has come a long way including the film fraternity. Infact, Shahrukh Khan, my favorite man, was at the Golden Globe to present the movie all the way from Mumbai. Yipee! Thanks once again for the lovely bouquet..

    Take care!

I never would have thought of India as having such color, and not a clue why. Sounds it would be quite a good movie, especially this time of year, doubt I'll be able to catch it though unfortunately, I love underdogs! You've made it sound as something I would undoubtably cheer for. I just don't get out too much, other than work, don't drive and am still somewhat of a stranger in a strange land, me and my kitten, is good to have him along!

Sometimes, I think we're all strangers in a strange land. I hope you get out and see the film
