Cat Saturday # 19 -- Plus a Video!

Quote de jour
"Cats must have three names - an everyday name, such as Peter; a more particular, dignified name, such as Quaxo, Bombalurina, or Jellylorum; and, thirdly, the name the cat thinks up for himself, his deep and inscrutable singular name."

Cat of the Week

This week's special kitty is a kitten. This adorable girl is Pandora. She was born six weeks ago at shelter in New Mexico. She lives with her mom Jennifer who is waiting to see if she lives up to her name.

If a picture tells a thousand words, does a video tells a million? This is the best video I could find about feral cats on Youtube.

Merlin graciously agreed to pose for me this week. Probably to amuse himself from sheer boredom. It's too cold to go out and cabin fever is setting in. His sister Coco, is being a royal bitch and refused to pose. Domino, the outdoor feral is refusing as well, but he has a good reason. It's taking all his energy to stay warm, and his pretty pink nose turned into sushi in a cat fight. Merlin has no idea how lucky he is...or maybe he does. Until next week... have a purrfect day!

I couldn't get to the cat video on youtube. Your link just went to the main page. I'd like to see if you have the url. I loved the pic of Merlin, felt bad about your outside cat getting hurt and wondered why Coco was in such a bad mood. I wish I could see Pandora too!
I am about to scrub down Tigger. Z thought that spraying him with fabreeze would work as well as water to stop Tigger from scratching up the furniture.
I wish he would think before he acts but thus goes the 12 year old. Hopefully Tigger will be no more worse for wear.

I just checked the video. It played fine. Perhaps it's your browser? Try again. Isn't Fabreeze dangerous for pets? Anyone know about it?

What a stirring video. I am fortunate in having had parents who always took in the special ones from my parents lab - the lab cats having come from the pound - and we took in strays, too.

We always kept our cats their entire lives.

Emma Peel, RIP, 1972-1992. From my college years until I had children. They remember her.

    What a legacy.

I did adopt an adult feral cat from Plymouth in 1993, but, having been outdoors most of her life - about a year and a half - she rid the neighborhood of chipmunks, one a day, for a year. We tried to keep her indoors, but she had to go outdoors. She was so proud. Of course, we fed her cat food. Our daughter got an early education in the real life of animals.

Merlin is gorgeous. Coco is a woman. Definitely. Probably a bad hair day.

Domino remains outdoors? You don't want to bring him in because of Coco and Merlin?

Glad you were able to view the video. Domino won't come in because he knows it's M & C's territory, but also he's too fearful and wild.

Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats! I adore that book, one of my most treasured possesions, terrific quote choice indeed~
Pandora is absolutely adorable, you just want to be able to rub her tummy, lol!!
The video played just fine for me, and I felt it was a most excellent one, points very well made and I couldn't agree more, reiterates my own personal philosophy certainly. My own Smokey came to me from a feral population when visiting Detroit, only about 3 months old at the time and just one glance I knew I couldn't have been chosen by a more worthy and wonderful kitty, I was the fortunate one truly! He was amazingly healthy along with uber-social, only one flea was found - no sores or dirt - and was easily dealt with on one light spraying never to return, and no earmites or worms either. First time I've ever had a kitten check out that well, and he's grown by leaps and bounds, can't imagine life without my little boy. =~D
(on the febreeze, personally I wouldn't spray my baby with anything but water, perhaps this kitty needs brushed more often or his box cleaned more regularly, just an idea. As to the dangers, I don't know, but if I don't put it on me, it don't go on Smokey...)
Your photo op with Merlin did indeed turn out magnificently! Sounds like he and Coco, Domino as well, could use to read my latest posting, we are in sync on the phenomenom of cabin fever!
Merlin has that look about him of being quite confident that you are the lucky one being allowed to serve him of course.... =~P

Yes, Merlin is king. Now that I've figured out how to embed Youtube, I'm contemplating making a video of him talking. He has the  lung power of an opera singer! Truly frightening.

I just tried to leave a comment on the Vamptini article but encountered an error of some sort.
Pandora is a fuzzy little ball of fluff.
    Merlin is definitely looking Regal.
Very nice video with so many compelling kitty faces.
