What I'm Reading, Eating etc.This Week ( Jan. 18, 2009.)
Quote de Jour
"No matter how busy you may think you are, you must find time for reading, or surrender yourself to self-chosen ignorance."
~ Confucius
When I arrived at the library last week, I expected another six books from a previous avalanche of online book ordering. After selecting a scant few magazines (most this week are my own),I held my breath at the counter. I still had unread books at homes from last week. Now I know what literary agents must feel like drowning under a never-ending mountain of manuscripts to read. It's no wonder most get tossed into the slush pile after the first paragraph.
"What about my books on order?" I dreaded seeing Mary, my favorite librarian, groaning under the weight of my book order. She's pushing seventy something and I wouldn't want to be the cause of any injury.
"There aren't any," she said.
"But there were supposed to be six." Careful what you wish for.
"Maybe they were sent back. We only hold them for a week." I left the building with a much lighter load and a lighter heart.
This is what it looks like outside my window, right now. Perfect weather to curl up with a good, bad or indifferent book... after eating my breakfast (Alicat don't look!!!)

I too am an avid reader and can't inhale them fast enough. I love reading about your journeys to the library. The picture out your window is wonderful. I can't wait to see it in every season.
