Cat Saturday # 20 (A Kitty Paradise & More)
Quote de jour
"Although all cat games have their rules and rituals, these vary with the individual player. The cat, of course never breaks a rule. If it doesn't follow precedent, that simply means it has made up a new rule. It's up to you to learn it quickly if you want the game to continue."
If it's Saturday, it means it's Caturday, the day devoted to cats, and those who love them. Here at Cat Saturday, we honor one special feline every week. For the past few weeks we've on cats adopted from shelters. We've celebrated cats of every stripe and color, but no Siamese Cat of the Week , until today. Maybe my Siamese cats, Merlin & Coco had something to do with this week's choice. I suspect they wanted one of their own kind for a change. I think this choice will meet with their approval.
There are many different varieties of Siamese cats and Tigger is a stunning example of a flame point with electric blue eyes.
There's more to him than just a pretty face. According to his mom, Faith, "As a tiny, young kitten (he fit in my palm) he was found abandoned by the side of a country road by my best friend's college-aged niece. They rescued him and took him home, but only kept him as long as he was tiny. Once he grew (and he grew fast, at 4 1/2 months he weighed 11 lbs), they gave him to my friend who already had too many cats. Every time we visited Tigger (whose name we did not pick) he was so friendly and affectionate we fell in love with him. Someone else wanted to take him to use in a stud farm, and we decided he'd be better off being part of a family who really loved him instead of being part of a money-making venture for those gorgeous blue eyes of his. We brought him home and he has changed our lives.
Tigger is now three-years old. He is King of his castle and he knows it. Those blue eyes melt me every time he opens a cabinet or a door or tears into a box of food that wasn't supposed to be his. Tigger is my snuggle bunny. He jumps in my lap and I hold him close like a baby and he falls asleep purring in my arms. "
Tigger is one lucky kitty. It's my wish for every cat to have a good home. As a cat rescue person, I thought I'd seen it all, but my jaw dropped when I saw this video about a cat shelter in California. If you haven't already seen it, you're in for a treat. There are 700 fortunate felines living in paradise. This is Cat House On The Kings, a 12 acre cat sanctuary and adoption center. There are NO cages. If your browser won't allow you to view the video, please go to their website. http://www.cathouseonthekings.com I guarantee it will make your day.

Can YOU think of something funnier? Ask your cat and let me know... and until next week, happy tails to you...

Wow, I have never seen a flamepoint before. I was wondering how an orange cat could have blue eyes, and now I know. If you promise not to tell Cheddar (and I won't either), Tigger is the most beautiful orange cat I have ever seen. That video was incredible and brought tears to my eyes. The cats and dogs are so lucky they have that woman. Several hundred? Wow. Think of the food bill and the vet bill. There should be more like her. I am wondering if the cats and dogs get along because they do not have to compete for food in the wild. I love those shots of Domino. I am glad he does stay around. Hopefully, the coldest part of the weather is over.
Until the 70s, my cats were always indoor and outdoor. Our Siamese, growing up, would sometimes stay away for two days - usually to fight - and in the winter we worried. Coco and Merlin are a hoot!

I'm afraid I made a terrible error... I told Plunkett he would be featured today... Uh-oh! When the page came up, His Majesty jumped down from my lap and demanded to be let outside.
I was going to say that I'm "in the doghouse", thought, no, make that "cathouse" and then decided that wouldn't look too good, either...

Tell his Majesty, it's NEXT week. Will extra catnip and cuddles do?

Tigger is absolutely stunning.
My friend Heidi had a couple of flames.
Great pix of my buddy Domino. I hope he 'wises-up' soon.
Glad you shared that video. It is such a delight to see all those happy kitties.
It's always great to see Merlin the Magnificent and Coco the Cutie-Pie.
