Cat Saturday # 21 - Cats as Art
Quote de jour
Merlin and Coco (pictured above) don't have a care in the world as they lounge on top of the steaming hot radiator. I've never seen them in a bad pose. Then again, cats are a form of living sculpture. It's no wonder so many artists keep cats.
Cat Saturday NEWS
It is with great pleasure to announce PLUNKETT J. KITTY-CAT as Cat of the Week. His mom, Jean, is one of the funniest writers I know, so who better to sing his praises?
"Plunkett is Jeanz black-kitty amigo and has been for over 6 years now... His full title (which his contract states must be used whenever he is referred to in print) is:
"Plunkett, Black Kitty Amigo and Lord and Master of the Universe and All Related Dimensions -- Fearless and Great Hunter and God's Gift to the World -- All-Knowing, All-Seeing, Whose Very Name Strikes Terror Into the Hearts of Man and Beast, Bringer of Light and Song and Proof Positive That God is a Cat."
Jean admits that this is quite a mouthful but gives Plunkett his due because he is the only kitty-cat she has ever known who was bitten 5 times by a rattlesnake and lived to tell about it. (Needless to say, Plunkett gives reptiles a wide berth these days...) Rodents, however, are not so lucky and Plunkett always does his part to support the family by "bringing home the rodent bacon" whenever one is unfortunate enough to cross his path.
Plunkett is an Aries, born on April Fool's Day, he likes tuna and his favorite game is "I roll in the dirt until Mom scolds me for getting my nice, clean, black fur all dirty and then I sneak back into the house and perform my intimate toilette on her bedspread". (What fun!) He makes his home in Sonoma County, Northern California, with his non-furry Mom and Dad."
Link of the Week
http://www.langefoundation.com An excellent animal shelter in Los Angeles. Even Oprah supports them!
Cat Art of the Week -- Chesire Cat by Jacek Yerka
Jacek Yerka is a brilliant surrealist painter and cat lover who lives in Poland. If you want a mind-blowing experience, go visit his Web site http://www.yerkaland.com I am in awe of his talent. He's funny too. If a fairy god-mother would grant me three wishes, they would be:
1) Mr. Yerka would illustrate my children's book, The Dreamy Dreamland Express.
2) The book would be published.
3) I'd have enough money to buy the original illustrations and collect a stack of Yerka's paintings.
Well, a girl can dream, can't she?
Until next time, have a purr-fect day!

Oh, that pic of Merlin and Coco is simply priceless! And your quote completely spot on and perfect. I do know that my apartment in toto is simply the perfect size of toy box that Smokey required and all therein simply his toys, lol
Plunkett's photo shoot is completely wonderful, I so understand Jean's names of him and I have no doubt of any of their validity, he's wonderful! Amazing on his history with rattlers, exactly why the only way Smokey goes out is in his chariot as I have no doubt that he would find those as well as scorpions and tarantulas and with him having no fear whatever, I just don't want to know the outcomes of those meetings!!

His Majesty is greatly pleased, Lady L! And, oh MY, you must've really REACHED into the depths of His likenesses to have found that particular image of Him "hunting" in the tree! I took that photo almost a YEAR ago! :^D
I think the photo of Him on His "magic carpet" is my favorite! So mysterious! ;o)
We thank you, M'Lady... Plunkett sends his regards to Merlin, Coco, et al.
luv,
jean
