Cat Saturday # 22 -- & Surprise Guest
Quote de jour
"What cats most appreciate about us humans, is not our ability to feed them, which they take for granted--but out entertainment value."

Welcome to Cat Saturday, the day when my blog goes to the cats. Every Saturday. So, tell all your cats and cat loving friends to come visit. There's always lots of treats. We're always looking for cat art and candidates for cat of the week. E-mail me layla@laylamorganwilde.com
Cat of the Week

This is Fuzzy, our handsome and lucky Cat of the Week. He was born in late April of 2007 in the Pocono Mountains and abandoned by his feral, calico mom. Such is often the fate of feral kittens, but Fuzzy lucked out. He was found by G. who had a weekend home nearby. She bottle fed the tiny ball of fluff and after much soul searching decided to keep him. Feral kittens, if rescued early enough make sweet and loving pets but they will always have a touch of the wild. Fuzzy maintains strong feral hunting instincts but hunts only toy mice. He has been spared the cruel fate of being a homeless feral. This former fuzz ball with the feather duster tail is now a solid 16 pounds, and has since moved with his human parents and another cat to Myrtle Beach where he enjoys chasing his shadow and cuddling at night.
Cat Art of the Week

This is Domino, my outdoor feral cat having dinner at the front door. When it's extra cold, I keep the door open to give him a blast of warm air (the feline equivalent of a homeless shelter/warming center). Lately, we've had a surprise guest, Mr. or Mrs. Raccoon. You'd think with the recent cold snap, raccoons would be hibernating. As soon as hubby comes home, the raccoon comes bounding out of the shadows, all but singing, "Chow time!" I suspect the big scratch on Domino's nose is from his ersatz dining companion.
Kudos to PETA http://www.peta.org who took out this full page ad in this week's Variety Magazine, the entertainment industry rag for professionals in the biz. I don't wear fur. Animals need their fur coats themselves. Hollywood is a superstitious town. With the Oscars weeks away, no stylist in their right mind will dress their clients in Armani this year. Ah, the power of advertising. Sometimes, it is a good thing. Please forward this to all your animal loving friends.

Layla,
Thanks so much, you did a wonderful job. I will publish a quick blurb and link so all of Fuzzy's fans at Gather can come take a look.
Have a wonderful weekend my friend and keep up the great work on your blog. Fuzzy sends warm fuzzy greetings and nibbles.
