Ooh, la, la Love...

Quote de jour

Love endures despite all odds. Many years ago, I found myself alone, in Paris in the spring time. Romance was the last thing on my mind. I was there for a conference and still smarting from a recent divorce. On a bridge overlooking the Seine, I spotted the lovers in this photograph. Quintessential Paris. My heart ached and wondered if I'd ever love again. I didn't have to wonder too long. I returned to Paris a few years later with a new husband to attend the wedding of Canadian friends. They thought nothing could be more romantic than getting married in Paris. Turns out they were right. Love comes and goes, rises and falls in unexpected ways. The only thing I know for sure is this: if you keep your heart open, love keeps flowing as surely as the Seine.

I have lost hope for love, and prefer only to read and write about it.

But love is important. I just don't remember what it is.

I love looking at roses and photos of Paris.

    Happy Valentine!
