Cat Saturday # 25 --Merlin & Coco's First Video!

Quote de jour
" There are many intelligent species in the universe. They are all owned by cats."

Welcome to another edition of Cat Saturday where cats rule and dogs drool. Well, in the nicest way. Thanks Ariel, for the awesome photo of Mikey the golden retriever and his best bud, Poopie.

Cat of the Week

This bodacious kitty is Phoenix. She is about four-years-old and large for her size. Like many cats who starved as stray kittens, she has never lost her fear of going hungry. Four years ago, Melissa from West Jordan, Utah, heard Phoenix crying, hidden under some heavy equipment in lumber yard in Utah. Cat people have a way of finding cats and vice versa. Phoenix lucked out in the forever home department. Not only does she have a devoted human mom, Melissa and dad, Noah, but she also has seven assorted kitty siblings. According to Melissa, Phoenix has an adventurous purrsonality.
"She likes to watch violent movies or television (really odd, but if she hears screaming or other sounds of violence she immediately positions herself on the bed to watch the television). She likes to eat pasta sauce and is obsessed with food if you couldn't tell by her weight hehe. She is usually too good to hang out with the humans except on the odd occassion when she will curl up in your lap and purr. Then, a few minutes later she will realize what she is doing and strut off like it never happened. Even though she can be a little stinker, she sure knows how to look cute and pose for the camera."

News and Mews
Good news! Domino, my outdoor feral kitty survived another illness. He is one tough survivor and smart enough to eat antiobiotic laced food. The few days of  temperatures in the '50's helped too. All my cats enjoyed sunbathing on the porch and major sniff fest in the garden. Domino turned a blind eye to Coco skulking below his throne.

Merlin got goofy from the warmth. Doesn't he look like a wise old man or maybe Zorro?

It's been a long winter and to avoid terminal cabin fever, I give regular rations of catnip. Here is Merlin and Coco's first public appearance in a VIDEO chowing down on catnip. Note their excellent table manners.

You should be illustrating children's books. Seriously. Big business.

Phoenix is a lovely feline and yes, I AM impressed with Coco and Merlin's manners. Of course, I have three ill-mannered pups here rather than refined kitties, but I wouldn't trade them for the world.

I just placed my first garden order and I am so excited that I can hardly wait to receive and plant them! Blackberries, cherries, chokecherries, saskatoons (like blueberries), and a slew of rosa rugosas will soon be part of the green family here. I already got the sunflower seeds, and know just where I will plant them when the time comes. It seems like this time of year is filled with endless waiting.

    wishing you laughter

I love that painting, especially the little rodent.
    Phoenix is a cutie.
Merlin does look rather mysterious in that shot.
Loved the catnip video, but would have liked to have been able to observe them once they got "stoned".
I'm delighted to hear that Domino has recovered from his injuries.

Phoenix is completely gorgeous!! Love his collage!
But that video, your kitties are truly amazing! Sharing and everything all lovey like, wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't seen it! Now, my Smokey has no competition whatever and he certainly isn't as nice or neat as they are about, lol, so cute!
And, that is absolutely fantastic about Domino, quite the trooper. You all must be very glad that spring is just around the corner

Ah, cats can be very cool ... I think you really have to be around them for a while to appreciate their different personalities. You just have to try a little bit harder to coax their individuality out of them. I've had cats, chooks and rats as pets (as well as dogs, for a long time), and think that the first three are largely the same. Pay attention to them and getting to know their individuality is your reward. I had to laugh thinking about the kitty with a penchant for violent movies... it sort of reminds me of 'Pinky and the Brain' cartoons, aired when I was a kid .
