Cat Saturday # 26 -- It's Meezer Day!
Quote de jour

To celebrate six months of Cat Saturday, I thought it appropriate to focus on the loudest breed, the Siamese. I live with two chatty Siamese cats, Merlin and Coco who always have something to say. They demanded one of their own kind for Cat of the Week.

This handsome seal point Siamese is Ivan. At almost 17 years-old he might be considered a meezer geezer. He lives happily in sunny California with a bevy of other pets including chickens. Ivan, however rules the roost. According to his mom, Jennifer, " Ivan was born on June 26, 1992! He's still doing great. He can leap and run still, but his eyes are very clouded with cataracts. Hopefully he'll be with us for a lot longer. He is a very lean guy - he lost a lot of weight with his age so I would put him at about 8 pounds. He has a lot of purrrrsonality and he "talks" to us - mainly just to say he's hungry. We got him and his twin sister, named Coco, in Michigan when they were exactly six weeks old from an old couple who put an ad in the newspaper selling Siamese kittens for $35 each. Coco died back in 1998, unfortunately... she was killed by a pitbull next door."
Link of the Week
Siamese cats as noted for their longevity and often live well into their twenties. If you'd like to learn more about the breed or are considering adoption, check out the excellent Siamese cat rescue group http://www.siameserescue.org

My boy Merlin not only talks but is computer literate! I have plans to upload a video of him talking but his doppelganger will have to do this week. Warning! Cover your ears. This kitty is loud!
A recent portrait of Coco, who at age 14 still bounds up the stairs like a kitten. She's as crotchety as ever though.

Domino, my outdoor feral is part Siamese and all warrior. He is sometimes served breakfast in bed when it's very cold or when he's feeling under the weather. Lately, he's looking like the feline version of Mickey Rourke in The Wrestler. I'll post Domino's new pic next week.

Purrfection to a purrfect T.
I did not remember that Domino is part Siam.
I love love Dr. Katz and wow, Siamese are NOISY - I had forgotten.
I did not know you had a Coco the First.
Ivan is very handsome and young looking except for the cataracts.
And Coco the Second looks very very young for her age, too.
We had seal points growing up.
I yearn for more Siam in my life.

Thanks! FYI, There is no connection between my Coco ( pictured) and Ivan's. It's hard to consider other breeds once you've been owned by a Siamese ;-0

Tigger told me I had to come and see! What beautiful cats. I've got to go and get on the old computer and get some of the photos of my Beau who died several years ago. He was seal point. I trust your opinion, love your photography.
