These Boots Are Made For Walking
Quote de jour

It's the end of an era. My favorite hiking boots have bit the dust. Literally. I bought these Terra Wild Siders in Canada about 15 years ago. They have trudged through snow at the Grand Canyon, waded through muddy, rain forests and hot, desert sands. They have hiked up rocky hills and volcanic mountains on three continents. Maybe they're not as glamorous as other boots I've owned, but they have remained comfortable, waterproof, warm or cool as needed. They did their job until now. I slipped them on for a jaunt through my local woods and noticed something brown, flapping on the ground. I bend over and discovered the flapping was the rubber sole on both boots, torn, worn and dangling. And what was that cold moist feeling? These babies were no longer waterproof either. I snapped a photo. As you can see the upper leather parts still look good. I googled the company Terra Foorwear http://www.terrafootwear.com and sadly the same model is discontinued but I'm open to suggestions.
My boots in happier days.

Wow, you look great in your hiking boots, Layla. I need a new pair, too. Hiking books are the greatest....I bet you are a great hiker.

That is pretty amazing! Who keeps boots or shoes or any clothing for 15 years in our throwaway society?
I don't have a recommend but my husband loves backpacker magazine and I bet they'd have some great recommends for you!
