Mandala Mondays --Another Turn of the Wheel
Quote de jour
"The first day of spring is one thing, and the first spring day is another. It all depends on where you live."
LMW

This mandala is more illustrative than meditative in it's symbology. I often begin drawing a mandala by dividing the circle in quarters. It's the easiest way. Then, I decide on the number of rings. The more rings, the more intricate the pattern of geometry. In this case, the trees became the predominant symbol with their roots intertwining at the core. The square within the circle at the center reminds me of an old Chinese coin and represents the union between heaven and earth.
The wheel of the year keeps turning season after season without fail. Since I may or may not be blogging on holiday, I'm sending early wishes for a happy spring equinox. It's the first time that I can recall being down south for the first day of spring. Somehow the uni-seasonal aspect of palm trees jars me. Celebrating the first day of spring on a hot beach doesn't feel right. Where are the pussy willows or daffodils? Where is the flowing sap of maple trees and the moist earth smelling of green secrets? They will be waving their green welcome when I return, I hope.
