True Signs of Spring
Quote de jour
"God made rainy days so gardeners could get the housework done."
Once a week, I drive past one of the few remaining working farms in Westchester County. They sell organic produce, plants and herbs in the summer, mums and pumpkins in the fall, poinsettias and Christmas trees in the winter. They shut down for three, long months in the winter. The fields lie fallow, the greenhouses hidden from the public eye. Then, overnight in spring, they open again for business in a blaze of color. I felt giddy with happiness to stroke the velvet pansies, the lush green herbs in every shade of green, the true signs of spring's arrival and I rejoiced.
Have a safe and happy holiday weekend!
