Artist Angst
Quote de jour
"By and large, the making of serious, thoughtful and occasionally valuable art has become a lonely persuasion, while the marketing of art has become a boutique operation, manipulated by fashion, self-serving art scholars and the vagaries of the auction block."
~Abe Ajay
Grab some coffee or other provisions, this is a long one...

While the late Mr. Ajay was talking about fine arts, we could easily substitute painting, writing or film making or any other art form. Everywhere I look this week, mother nature, the ultimate artist is creating one masterpiece after another. I feel limp and impotent by comparison. All I can do, is capture the naturally evolving grace, day by day. It all pales miserably to the real thing, but let's have a go. For the next week or so, I'll be posting daily photos of my favorite blossoming trees from the same location to chart their progress.
My biggest inspiration often comes from the smallest form. While on the spiral path of a labyrinth, deep in prayer and in need of some answers, I chanced upon the tiniest of flowers poking through the gravel this week...
and felt humbled by this thumbnail-sized wild flower.

Right now, my neighborhood has gone gold. The yellow of forsythias is everywhere but I'd rather think pink like
magnolias, but the superstars are the cherry blossoms...

If I had to chose my favorite tree, it would be this one. It reminds me of a Rorschach test. I dare you not to find something unusual.

Done enough gawking and walking? Good, that's it for today. Mother nature scores 100%. Me? I'm still working on that 10%.

Great pictures Layla. When the eye sees something and the spirit says yes, it all seems right and then you click and capture it.
