Every Day Is Earth Day

Quote de jour
"Let every individual and institution now think and act as a responsible trustee of EARTH, seeking choices in ecology, economics and ethics that will provide a sustainable future, eliminate pollution, poverty, violence and awaken the wonder of life and foster peaceful progress in the human adventure."
~John McConnell  --  Founder of International Earth Day.

These words were written in 1969. Here we are forty years later, and suddenly 'going green' is the buzz word of the day. What took us so long? If we treated every day as Earth Day, we wouldn't be in this pickle. If we slowed down for a nano-second to smell the fresh dew off a cherry blossom, might we make different choices? I can't imagine anyone littering under this tree.

Let's not wait another 40 years to do it right. I designed this ad to share. Feel free to forward it to anyone on earth.

My obsession with the cherry blossoms continues. I returned yesterday in a light mist , and nature rewarded me with these ethereal beauties. I snapped 100 pics and honestly a blind monkey could not take a bad shot with this scenery. Here's a random sampling.

Love yourself by loving the earth. Peace.

I remember the first Earth Day. I was at Dawson College, and there was a small geodesic dome tent set up with a strobe light and exhibits about the Earth and Earth Day.

I always remember Earth Day as something special, because it is exactly 6 months to the day before my birthday ever year.

Rachel Carson's Silent Spring was published in the early 60s, and so much of it has come true.

No birds sing in the silent spring.

We must save our Mother, our Mother Earth.

    Gorgeous photos of our mother.

Beautiful pictures, Layla. The recent awareness is a result of the ignorance we lived in for years and allowed our planet to go the dogs. Now suddenly we want it all green and beautiful, again.
I am glad the change is happening.

    Loved your ad!

Everyday should be Earth Day. Let us work to make it so. Again, the pictures are spectacular.
