Cat Saturday # 32 -- Shades of Green
Quote de jour
"A cat improves the garden wall in sunshine, and the hearth in foul weather."
The cats and I roamed the grounds barefoot this morning. Spring has sprung alright. The sun felt hot enough for an alfresco breakfast with every branch and leaf vibrating with life. The sudden warmth and days of rain gave the garden a green growth spurt. Some of us enjoyed the wet grass more than others. But first, I had to convince Merlin to wake up.
Merlin the wuss, found the grass too wet. He didn't offer to help with the yard work either...
Domino would rather sunbathe and show off his fine pair of whiskers.
Merlin and Domino are almost friends. Domino playfully rolled over on his back which is a first. Is a bromance in their future?
Coco is still scared of Domino and keeps her distance. She's a beautiful girl, but not the sharpest knife in the drawer. This week's stupid trick of the week is so quintessentially Coco. She found a small hole in the duvet cover and managed to squeeze through to the duvet. She couldn't find her way out and stayed trapped for hours. Normally chatty, goes mute when trapped accidentally in closets, basements and any other place she has no business being in. Merlin would have yowled bloody murder, but not Coco. Did you know the reason cats eat grass is to supplement their diet in folic acid? Here is Coco getting her vitamins.
Now, on to more important things like cat of the week.
In honor of the anniversary of Shakespeare's death today, we have a Cat of the week with the suitable name of Othello. He lives and roams in the Boston area. Truth be told, he's roaming less since losing his family jewels recently. One look at this charmer and it's no wonder the fair felines swooned for this lothario. This what his mom, mistress Elizabeth has to say about the boy.
"We found Othello, Ophelia, and a gray baby, Merlin (we gave him away to a friend) 4 years ago in March. They were just babies and they were in a cardboard box at the end of our road. (We live out in the country on a dirt road that swings around the pond). We brought the babies home and thought we would keep just Ophelia. Another friend wanted Othello but she was going to Ireland for 3 weeks and asked us to hold him. Three weeks turned into four years."
Note: It is prime tomcatting season and to avoid tragedies of Shakespearian proportions; if you have a unspayed or un-neutered kitty, yet thee to a vet.
Art of the Week
I found this illustration I'd done years ago. Surely it some kitty's birthday today?
