April in Paris

Quote de jour

For regular readers, you know Tuesdays are my a "tech-free" day off. And seriously, I am. No e-mails or TV etc.but my computer will explode if I don't share the latest blooms. The cherry blossoms I've been tracking for the past wo weeks are now past peak, and the magnolias not far behind. It's been a exhilarating, life affirming ride which reminded me of the many Aprils I spent in Paris. Oh, la la does that feel like another lifetime ago. I snapped the above pic at the Bagatelle Garden in the Bois de Boulogne where even the most comman flower had a certain je ne sais quois.
Cherry blossom season may be over, but there are numerous other blooms to capture. All is not lost. I felt a pang seeing the faded blossoms but realized they're clearing the way for the green leaves.

Parts of the park are still lovely and the carpet of petals has barely begun.
Photography is mostly a joy. The editing process though is an angsty, OCD inducing nailbiter. Out of hundreds of lovely pics how to choose a scant few? This is not including all the others. The street scenes, doors, windows, the cats, the signs, the wabi sabi forms of decay, experimental multi-exposures... and then there the writing.  The more photography I do, the harder it is to write. Send in the clones. Divide the the day into 25 hours. I'm ready.

What kind of bird do you imagine would like to live in this fairy tale tree?

The bonus of the day was discovering this magnolia specimen and my new favorite.

These massive blooms smelled extra sweet and capped an especially productive day creatively. It inspired a new segment I'll be introducing in May featuring local artists from Westchester County.

I visit Harts Brook Park so often, it deserves its own blog and there is one but not by moi. I bumped into the Joe Lucasey the caretaker and deputy commisioner of Greenburgh parks. I promised to send him some pics for their Website. Now how do I select the best of the best out of gazillion? More about that later....

This is your best yet. I have been to Paris but not in April and not for a long time, so I welcome imagining Paris in the Spring.

I just love all your flowers.

We have Magnolias and they are great, but yours are magnificient.

I particularly love that one pic of the petal-strewn pathway, with that tree in the background that looks like a cross between a weeping willow and a cherry tree. (I know it isn't - but what type of tree is that?)
    What an absolutely enchanting place!
