Cat Saturday # 33 -- off to the vet we go...
Quote de jour
"It's impossible to keep a straight face in the prescence of one or more kittens."
I'll have to make this short. Merlin is off to the vet in an hour to have his *groan* anal sacs expressed. He always yowls on the toilette but when he starts scooting his bum on a rug, it's time for the vet. His new warm weather routine is a thorough survey of his territory with requisite spraying. Did you know cats spray urine not necessarily to mark territory, but as a method of commuication? A kind of feline e-mail. I caught Merlin the act by the old barn sniffing and spraying to his heart's content. No doubt sending feral Domino a clear message.

It's kitten season and one of the most beautiful was born recently: kitten royalty if you will. It's my pleasure to introduce you to Princess Latte, Cat of the Week. She has the markings and longer fur of a Himalayan, but without the squashed in face. She lives with Tigger, a flame Siamese and former cat of the week, and China, a beautiful pure white kitty.

Princess Latte's human mom, Faith claims, "Latte's mother was a short hair siamese mix and her dad was a fluffy Siamese mix.
She is so sweet. Eleven weeks old now. She climbs in my lap when she is tired and loves to be petted and loved on. She and Tigger, after some tentative starts and then some sudden sweet touching noses are playing and napping together. She chases that big old Tigger through the house and he tackles her and sits on her to hold her down. She is constantly biting his tail as it twitches!! He looks at her with such perplexity sometimes. China climbed above her at first and now will actively bat at Latte and hiss. No friends there yet but I haven't given up. Even my husband holds her and talks to her and he didn't want to have another cat! She is very lovable."
The update is Tigger and the princess are quite chummy cuddle bunnies and China in the odd man out. It's always a challenge introducing a new feline member, but time has a way of smoothing ruffled fur.
Cat Art of the Week
My cat, Merlin knows he's a star. You may start bowing and scraping now.

With so many kittens being born now, a timely topic is when is the best time to spay/neuter your cat. There are lots of myths. Good info here.http://www.hope4animals.org/myths
