Cat Saturday # 36 --- Group Hug!

Quote de jour (scroll down)

It's a holiday weekend. Time to fire up the Bar-B, dust off the porch and do a little dreaming. Instead of our usual cat of the week, I thought we'd mix it up a bit. Can you spot Merlin inspecting the freshly painted porch AKA summer living room? Domino is transitioning from his winter nest to the blue blanket on a chair. His food bowls are in a new shady location in the corner. Not seen, are the half dozen, filled to occupancy bird's nests, hence the need to paint the porch.

I spotted Domino far away from his usual digs by the fire pit. He's not just being coy. Poor boy was in fight.

Look closely under his ear. It's a gaping wound and of course he won't let me anywhere near him.

It's a myth that cats don't speak to each other. Merlin sat oblivious to Domino twenty paces apart until Domino meowed, "Here I am."

After four years of being a feral loner, Domino is reaching out to Merlin. Cats love company as much as humans do.

These lucky cats live on a farm in Illinois as part of a large feline family. The above photo is by Amanda C. taken at her mom's farm. There are now nineteen but all are spayed and neutered. You'd need large quarters for that kind of kitty family, but three is a more ideal number. The photo below is by Robyn F.with her feline trio. I added the quote which is our quote de jour. Hope you have a restful holiday weekend!

Cat ART of the week
The things we find while doing a spring cleaning! This old print has a dreamy scene but not so dreamy message.

Cat link of the week
The funniest video of a cat sleeping is Japanese, but no translation is needed.

OMG I love your porch, I am so glad Domino and Merlin are talking.

Yes, cats do talk to each other. Mao and Ched speak to each other and they respond in conversations WITH us.

    That video is the best!

What a beautiful cat family. Thought it was ONE huge orange cat at first, until I realized it was TWO.

    Wonderful pix of the 'kids'.
    Bummer about poor Domino's injury.
I have never seen a cat sleep in that position. Do you think they drugged it?
