4 Views From The Throne
Quote de jour

This is the view from my guest bathroom. I thought it might be fun to photograph the transitions throughout the year. The cheeky "View from the throne" series began in the fall with the colorful sugar maple, then the snow and bare branches of winter, then nothing. For months, the transition slowed to a standstill. Or so it seemed. I couldn't see the sap rising or leaves decomposing into soil, but there were minute changes everyday. The light at different times of the day shifted depending on the weather and my mood.
The observations became a metaphor for my own life. The self-searching for meaning. The urge to grow and explore. The stuckness of sameness. Then, seemingly overnight a pale green of new life emerged. The view of the stone fence and neighboring properties disappeared behind growing leaves. The leaves grew large and lush. I happily captured the changes but didn't post them. There were too many, too quickly and too little time. I needed to keep moving. All of us are in transition. We may be more aware of the big ones: birthdays, graduations, weddings, anniversaries, funerals, new homes, new jobs, new careers, but there are more subtle transitions every day. Which ones will you pay attention to?

The four seasons are a good metaphor for life. All different but all good.
