A rose is a rose is a rose

Quote de jour

What a difference a week makes. This is me with some roses from my garden last week.  Pretty as picture, yes? Between the deluge of rainstorms, brainstrorms, aphids and fits and starts. The "garden as my life" metaphor continues to be apt. Did someone say wilted? Ah, not so fast. One down, but another budding... This goes out to anyone who is going through a difficult time. I have a friend hobbling on crutches with a broken ankle, another just had back surgery, someone's dad just died, another's cat died and lost a job. There will always be a time for wilting, and a time for budding: sometimes, at the same time.

Look closely at this rose. It's the same one directly above it. Is it any less beautiful for the imperfections and limp petals? The petals will fall, but the green leaves stay green for the rest of the summer. And just when you least expect it, this rose will bloom again in the fall, like it always does.
