Virginia Woolf Weather

Quote de jour

One good thing about the record rainfall in New York this spring is the deluge of creative spurts I've experienced. What is it about damp gloomy weather that sparks brilliant poetry? Not mine. Maybe in my next life, but something like Not Waving But Drowning by  Stevie Smith, one of my favorite poets. http://www.poetry.org/
I created image above from section of a painting from a series completed during my first marriage. They all depicted images of drowning. It's no wonder we divorced shortly afterward with in-your-face metaphors like that.
I had fun playing with multi-exposure image of the painting and a photo of a friend taken this winter with the text. But, enough procrastination. The sun poked it's head out for a nano-second and now I'm off to do some writing. If you are thinking gloomy thoughts, take those rocks out of your pockets and throw them in the river. They just might skip, sending out ripples of positive energy. Have a sunny weekend!
