Barefoot Zen

Quote de jour

I wandered about the garden yesterday ignoring the tangle of weeds, and blinked against the sun like a prisoner released from a dark, dank dungeon.  With the endless rain, who wants to garden? Rabbits had nibbled on a salad of my basil and dill. Don't ask about the sad heirloom tomato plants. After a half-hearted attempt to prune some man-eating weeds, I lay down the shears. All I wanted to do was feel the sun on my face, right down to my toes. Screw the deer ticks, I needed to be barefoot. The sun licked my soles of my feet and before I could blink, the sun disappeared behind the clouds. Again. Ah, but no one can steal the memory of my sun-toasted feet. What are you waiting for? Summer is so short. Enjoy.

Funny that today you write about going barefoot as, just before I read your blog, I received another e-mail saying not to buy painted flipflops made in China that are being sold at Walmart. It showed pictures of terrible burns on children's feet showing where the painted rubber touched the skin. So, be happy and go barefoot!

That's funny but sad for the kids. When is China going to wake up and smell the toxins

Yes, it's important to do a tick check after going barefoot, but live a little ;-0

Great looking toes. I love the feel of grass between my toes. Cool ocean spray. I love gardens but hate all the work.

    Sun today. Tomorrow? Who knows.
