Cat Saturday # 42 A Star is Born
Quote de jour

All cat lovers think their cats are beautiful even if they're not. The French have a name for unconventional beauty jolie-laide or beautiful ugly, but this is not the case with Pixie who inspired me to create a special poster for her. The snippet of poetry is from Yeats.
Every so often, a cat with uncommon beauty and purrsonality shines like a star. Pixie is that kind of girl and also our Cat of the Week. Pixie was adopted at the age of six weeks from the Beaver County Humane Society in Pennsylvania by devoted cat lovers Nancy and her hubby David. Pixie plays princess, ruling over four male cat brothers, Casey, Rocky and Sebastian who are equally photogenic. Pixie lives up to her name and is very kittenish and playful, enjoying toys that make noise, any cardboard box, and has been known to chew on electrical cords. With so many great photos to choose from, I had a hard time choosing, so I created an extra large version of the Cat of the Week Poster.

News and Mews
My elderly Siamese cat Coco has never liked other cats except for her brother Merlin. She loathes Domino, the outdoor feral and gives him a wide berth, at least until this week. I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw her with him. Here is the photographic evidence taken from a distance like some private eye spying on covert lovers.

Coco playing coquette

Merlin had a close encounter of the Domino kind as well. Merlin tries to act nonchalant.

The #1 question on all the cats minds is...

Our link of the week is for the amazing cat colony at Hemingway's old home and museum in Key West, Florida.
http://www.hemingwayhome.com/ There are about sixty well cared for cats who roam free on the property. All are named after famous writers or movie stars.
For all American readers and friends, have a blast this 4th of July!

Merlin is not threatened.
We are off to Rockport and Gloucester, the sun and the beach.
Our two boys are still sleeping off last night's feast.

Wow, I've never seen a cat with freckles before. I'm referring to Gertrude Stein, on of the Key West Clan. What an interesting looking critter.
Pixie is f*****g adorable, and so photogenic. I particularly love the one with her little boots tucked under her cute little chinny-chin-chin.
Very interesting that Coc is warming up to Domino. Great P.I. pix of their encounter. Merlin the Magnificent is still the King of Beasts, though.

Pixie is so beautiful! I have a wonderful tortoiseshell too. Torties have especially sweet dispositions. I loved the new Merlin and Coco posters. Isn't Domino the one who almost gave Coco a fatal infection? Or was it another bad boy? I'll be posting pictures of our new kitty addition soon. We have a 10 week old Blue Point Ragdoll kitten!

That's exciting news about the kitten! Domino was probably not the one who injured Coco. He's not as aggressive anymore and knows which side his bread is buttered
