Today marks a new moon and a solar eclipse. Astrologers say it's the most powerful day to make changes and plant seeds of intent. If you are into astrology and want more details of this powerful time, I have the kind permission of astrologer Dipali Desai to post her poetic interpretation. What an incredible time this is, energies are weaving together in an extraordinary way. The element of water gently lures us to the  edge, where earth meets water. The solar light (sun/fire) adds sparkle and brings the appropriate temperature to the earth and water to create enough heat. The sky (air) brings the cooling down and provides the circulation. Each element needs the other and all need to work in delicate harmony. The water nourishes the soil, the sun provides the warmth for the gestation of the seedlings and growth, air offers to dry up the excess water thereby the relationship provides space for all things to flourish. Then we see trees, plants, flowers and fruits grow brilliantly. When we think of nourishment, most people go directly to food and its nourishment for the physical body. Yet, nourishment here goes beyond the physical and includes spiritual, mental and emotional levels. To nourish ourselves is to grow and evolve with an energy that promotes well-being on the deepest level of our being. When you scan your life and being what provides you the lasting nourishment? What relationships, projects, plans, thoughts, actions, ideals and visions fill your entire beingness up.  We may be called to be near a sea, ocean, river or stream – even a nearby stream. We may sit, relax, dream and replenish ourselves here reflecting on our intention at this time.

The In-Between Phase It’s like walking on hot sand on a hot summer’s day before you get to the ocean’s edge.

As we build to the peak of the upcoming Solar Eclipse from the most recent Lunar Eclipse – the energies it’s possible to feel exposed, sensitive and intense. It is helpful to be in nature and ground some of the energies swirling within you. Keep your attention upon the expanded view point of the beautiful change of energies unfolding and occurring. It will help you keep perspective instead of lost within the muck of your own issues. Eclipses have changed signs and will happen in the Cancer/Capricorn axis until about the year 2011. June to August 2009 the theme will be “Feeling and Emotions” as that is a common link between the eclipses as well as the energies being activated.

Total Solar Eclipse

Total Solar Eclipse and New Moon in Cancer
Entering number two of three eclipses….On July 22nd, 2009 there will be a Total Solar Eclipse in the sign of Cancer at 29 degrees. With this being a total eclipse and at the 29 degree mark, it is more important to tune into and work with the themes in a conscious way. A “solar eclipse” tends to symbolize the “external or outer landscape expression” in life. A more active, energized, wildly alive and vibrant energy. Reserved its not. We will feel the Total Solar Eclipse and New Moon energy washing over us like a large wave -the influence will be noticeable to those who are tuned in.

There is a fullness or complete expression with a “total” eclipse, at the 29 degrees marker. It brings our attention to finalizing a chapter in our lives as a new one begins. Empty the bucket of excess or stagnant water, you’ll need a room for the fresh creative energy pouring in. This phase signifies on the deepest level a powerful potential of new beginnings and intense transformation/change wherever it activates in your Natal Chart (more important if it is in close connection to Sun, Moon or a planet within 3 degrees). Relationship with females or feminine energy may undergo a change. For the astrological of Cancer (Sun/Moon/Ascendant) your life may feel inside out, as you feel pushed to express instead clinging to being timid. For some, this may be quite uncomfy and even a bit irritating. But as oysters show us, even whilst something irritating grinds on us, it too can become beautiful and a pearl emerges.

Cancer is dynamic cardinal water sign in astrology. So the potential is to tap into the assertive energy of water energy instead of the shy, timid and held back energy. Major life events are also symbolized by major eclipses – especially Solar Eclipse. Transformations, growth and expressing more of your potential is also likely as is shaking you loose of any stagnant patterns. This is not the time to drag your feet, more like – surf and ride the waves.

Venus/Saturn symbolism suggests a somber tone or feelings of frustration with limitations around love, relationships and giving/receiving. Although a lot can get done with this push of energy too, so it’s not all blah. Examine carefully where you have imposed the limits on yourself or is it that you need to apply healthy boundaries somewhere? It is a good time to evaluate your current needs and relationships. Growth, maturity and patience is emphasized. Saturn in Virgo reminds us to raise our standards so we receive the love we deserve. Venus in Gemini reminds us to get the “facts accurate” and to be objective in our relationships before serious decisions are made.  It is possible an old or past issue, pattern (or person) may return so you can finalize the “lesson or learning” and complete the chapter. There may surprises in store, stay open instead of fixed idea of how things will happen.

Jupiter/Chiron are in close tie with one another during this new moon. We are urged to heal and bridge gaps in a big way. There is huge potential for healing with this
beautiful combination. Not only will we understand the wound but we will also gain much wisdom from the process.

Also, take note that the Solar Eclipse in Cancer has a Lunar Eclipse comforting both sides of it – before  and after (one in that happened in early July and then again in August too but more on this Eclipse later). This tends to bring the soft emotional Lunar energy balanced between the super-charged Solar Eclipse. New Moon Phase
New Moon in the lunar cycle heralds a time of the union of solar (masculine) and lunar (feminine) principle or energy. Working in harmony as a unite towards a common aim or direction, in this case the sign of Cancer (the Archetype of Divine Feminine or Inner Mother). New moon energy symbolically represents new opportunities, events, situations and starts.  The New Moon in Cancer brings forth themes around emotional bonding, emotional security, home, family, roots, belonging, nourishment, nurturing, receptivity, empathy, sensitivity, as well as the “Inner Mother and Divine/Sacred Feminine archetype.” With this Total Solar Eclipse/New Moon in Cancer happening at 29 degrees – symbolically we are encouraged to finalize a chapter as the new one begins. Resolving family issues, or emotional intimacy issues are a must to put the past to rest.
