What I'm Reading This Week -- August 2, 2009

Quote de jour

Kind of the story of my life...
Okay, so I had to bite the bullet and cut back on my reading. Only two books, both non-fiction plus the usual mags. Is it my imagination, or is there a red, white and blue cover theme happening with ad agencies? The catch words are: post-recession,( ya right), simple, cheap, recovery, re-building and starting over... hmmm.

It's raining the proverbial cats and dogs as I write this, and I've decided to postpone my book club meeting. We usually like to loll on the covered porch but the thunder and lighting is of biblical proportions. My cats have the right idea; they're curled up in bed snoozing. I think I'll join them. It's a perfect day to curl up with a good book and read.

I've hear good things about this new best seller The Noticer by Andy Andrews. The tagline is, "Sometimes, all a person needs is a little perspective." I agree but  I would add, "Sometimes, all a person needs is a new or different perspective." The author has a website worth checking out. http://www.the%20noticerproject.com/

I've read the huge (now iconic) best seller Emotional Intelligence by Daniel Goleman. It's not surprising for him to capture the zeitgeist of our times with his new book Ecological Intelligence.

So little time these days for everything.

The dog days are catching up to the cat days.
