Cat Saturday # 47- Is This Your Cat?

Quote de jour

Stray Cat

Dear God, please send me somebody who'll care.
I'm so tired of running and sick with despair.
My body is aching and filled with such pain;
And dear God I pray, as I run in the rain
That someone will love me and give me a home,
A warm cozy bed, and food of my own.
My last owner left me alone in the yard...
I watched as they moved, and God that was hard.
So I waited a while, then went on my way
To rummage in garbage and live as a stray.
But now, God, I'm so tired and hungry and cold;
And I'm so afraid that I'll never grow old.
They've chased me with sticks and hit me with straps
While I run the streets just looking for scraps.
I'm not really bad, God, please help if you can,
For I have become just a "Victim of Man."
I'm wormy, dear God, and I'm ridden with fleas;
And all that I want is an Owner to please.
If you find one for me, God, I'll try to be good.
I won't scratch the carpet; I'll do as I should.
I'll love them, play with them, and try to obey.
I will be so grateful if they'll let me stay.
I don't think I'll make it too long on my own,
'Cause I'm getting weak and I'm so all alone.
Each night as I sleep in the bushes I cry,
'Cause I'm so afraid, God, that I'm gonna die.
I've got so much love and devotion to give
That I should be given a new chance to Live.
So dear God, please hear me, please answer my prayer,
And send me somebody who will REALLY care.

There are countless stray cats and our cat of the week used to be one. He was saved from the street but needs a forever home. Take a good look at him. Look at those stunning green eyes. Could he be your cat?

Spooky is about two years old and was rescued by a cat lover named Clark. He first noticed a stray  cat lurking in his apartment complex parking lot in Yonkers, NY. A week later, he saw him again and he got a closer look at his starved, tick-covered body. His only good fortune (up until meeting Clark) was the kindness of a security guard who fed him scraps from her sandwiches. She named him “Spooky” because he reminded her of her sister's cat. It was clear from Spooky's friendliness that he wasn't feral and most likely abandoned. This is sadly a more frequent occurrence given the state of our economy. Some people lose jobs, have to move and can't afford their pets so they dump them thinking they can fend for themselves in the 'wild'. They don't survive for long.

Clark decided Spooky's days of living under cars in a parking lot had to end. He took him to a vet and home.  A few months and a few hundred dollars of vet bills later, he says Spooky is a healthy, happy, handsome boy, who has filled out, with a gorgeous, thick, glossy and multi-patterned gray, black and ash colored coat. He is a good-natured cat who warms up to strangers within minutes and has a kind, playful nature. He especially loves to jump up on an inviting human lap to bond. He is also completely house-trained. What more can you ask for? Just one more thing: A good home with a responsible owner who won't abandon him. Clark can only keep one cat and unfortunately the type who hates other cats. If you think Spooky is the cat for you, or know someone who may be interested, please e-mail Clark at clarktaa1@gmail.com

Spooky's Health and Medical Details.

  • Neutered
  • Feline FIV Negative
  • Tick, Flea and Ear-mite free
  • Rabies shot given
  • De-wormed

 If you're lucky, maybe he could be your cat.

Link of the week
It's adoption day at many Petco locations today. PETCO, www.petco.com  and the PETCO Foundation and Petfinder.com have teamed up with adoption agencies, rescue groups and humane societies across the country to create thousands of adoption opportunities. animals.

In addition to these new in-store Adoption Centers, PETCO and the PETCO sponsor adoption events in their stores and communities nationwide and hold fundraisers which raise millions of dollars each year to help homeless animals find permanent pet parents of their own.

Enough serious talk, now let's celebrate how wonderful it is to be owned by a cat. It's always an adventure at my house.

Coco is keeping her normal distance from Domino who is inspecting a large limb that fell down during a recent storm. And just as well, Domino is recuperating from the sniffles.
Fortunately, it's been warm and he's napped day and night on the porch. It's got me concerned about  winter. Domino is leery to come inside, it's only to eat and the door has to remain open for a quick getaway. I'm toying with the idea of a catdoor to the mudroom. The question is; will he use it?

    Your poem made me cry. I am hoping and praying Spooky finds that forever home.
    The mudroom door idea sounds good.
