Mandala Mondays -- Seeds of Creativity From the Sea

Quote de jour

I'm in the midst of a major de-cluttering at home and questioning why we collect anything. These are some shells I collected lovingly one by one.  Each one is a memory treasure of wet sand and sea air. Arranged on a plate they became a mandala.  But I can't help but think: would less be more? Instead of posting my usual mandala drawing inspired from nature, here are some of my students with their mandalas in progress. May the never ending wheel of creativity turn in your favor today. You don't need to look any further than your nose. Inspiration is everywhere. Anyone want some sea shells? I have a few gazillion I'm willing to part with.

I love shells and the arrangement of your shell plate is such an inspiring mandala.

We were in Rockport on Saturday, and spent a lot of time in the shell shop. Such beauties.

John bought a spotted cowrie nightlight.

De-cluttering is the word Im hearing from all my Spiritual friends. Your doing it just adds to the list...and reinforces my belief that I must, too.
I have hundreds of knick knacks scattered all over the house from our travels to each end of the country. Its difficult to throw them away ! Maybe...in time, I'll be able to disengage with them and see them objectively.

I added your site's link at my site
    Thank you for visiting there

Thanks for adding my link. I wonder if anyone has done a survey or study of cultural differences in hoarding?

I love the symbolism of shells. Each carved out giving an imprint of its environment, what its been exposed to. Each a thing of beauty and a message to be heard if you get close enough to listen to it

As the saying goes, If you love someone set them free

    - maybe the same is true for our things. I find if I love something too much, the universe intervenes and it is lost or taken and when that happens I smile and thank the universe for the message and wish the person as much happiness with it as I had. Now if its a diamond ring - thats different! But smaller things, like favorite brolleys etc...

Strange. This morning I was going around the house collecting my dishes, bowls, etc of sea glass and shells and giving them a good bath.
