When Bad Things Happen To Good Computers
Quote de jour
"Nature is always and never the same."

The same could be said of all things techie. My hard drive died today. I had meant to back up my files, the manuscripts, thousands of photo files. I know they most likely can and will be recovered, but I am pissed and all the breathing and go with the flow attitude has gone down the drain, at least in this moment. I'm writing this on a borrowed laptop and cursing the techie gods. If you're on good terms with them, say a prayer for me.
I often take a tech-free Tuesday. No checking e-mail, no cell phone, no TV. Nada, but it feels very different when the choice is made for you. I know there is a lesson there but don't want to look at it right now. I've spent all afternoon doing diagnostics with Dell online support. I won't say it was hellish but I will say Macs are looking pretty good to me right now. Tomorrow is another day, one hopefully with a friendly call from Dell on site support. I was promised a new mother board and hard drive, sometime this week. Maybe. I can't promise when I'll get back to my normal blogging, but I do promise some amazing new photos once I do.

It seems like computers are the final frontier for a lot of us when it comes to maintaining our go with the flow, things happen for a reason attitudes. I've often wondered why that is. I'm a firm believer in making the law of attraction work for me, and I know it won't if I sit here cursing at my computer when it's not cooperating, or cursing at Twitter when it's down, or cursing at my blogging software because the latest upgrade caused everything to slow wayyyy down. But yet, I can't seem to find my equilibrium when it comes to this stuff. Is it because our computers are our connection to the world? Do we feel abandoned somehow when our computers let us down? I don't know - I'm still puzzling it out.
Best wishes to you for a successful hard drive recovery. I think I'll go do some backups now.

We're artificially connected with technology and yet is the world we've created. I must confess, it's been bliss being away from e-mail. I stubbornly refuse smart phones but eventually I'll succumb despite, the disturbing images of family members crazy-glued to their PDA's LOL. Thanks for your good wishes. Pinky, a Dell rep called from the Phillipines to say my parts have been shipped. She was delightful and I felt a positive connection. Maybe the universe is giving me the break I needed.
