The Shadow Side of Life
Quote de jour

The light is shifting where I live. It's sharper and cooler. I'm noticing the quality of shadows shifting as well. We all have a shadow side, the darker hidden side which we may embrace, or stuff it away in the basement. Eventually it'll rear its dark wizened head anyway, so why not embrace it now? All of us are equal parts dark and light. It's what makes us whole and human. Make peace with the darkness and it won't swallow you. Sadess, grief, anger, guilt, doubt, fear are inside all of us. The more accepting we are of our dark side the more fluidly we can shift back to sweetness and light; if that's what you want. But Ive found that the people who are always nice ( I mean Mother Theresa wrapped around Glinda the good witch of the east kind of nice) are hiding a monster-sized dark side. I like my moods the way Ike my chocolate: light and dark.

I think that embracing your dark side actually empowers the light, the goodness, the caring part of you rather than detracting from it.
