Westchester Wednesdays--The Ultimate Attic Sale

Quote de jour
"Treasure your relationships not your possessions."

A few weeks ago, in a frenzy to de-clutter I had a yard sale. I scoured every nook and closet ,and I'm embarrassed at the amount of stuff I'd collected over the years. In the end, it seemed like I had more stuff left over than when I started. A local church was taking donations so I hauled boxes of things over to South Presbyterian church in Dobbs Ferry N.Y. The door was open and I nearly fainted when I entered. The front entrance, the long corridor, the chapel used for yoga and the cavernous community hall/day care center were packed to the rafters with donations for the sale. Household stuff, antiques, bric a brac, books, even a flat screen TV. Everything and anything. Every year I go and  pick up a treasure or two, but the amount of stuff  this year floored me. I can't help wonder why. Is everyone in a collective mood to de-clutter? Are we feeling to need to donate to charity during these dire economic times?

I snapped some photos of the mountain of donations that I expected to post today, but as you may know my hard drive died and I don't have the restored contents yet. But never mind, the thing is; if you are anywhere in the area (and quite frankly it's worth the trip from NYC) get down there this weekend. Of course the antique dealers and bargain hunters will be down first thing Saturday morning but there is enough for everyone even on Sunday. The prices are low, the selection mind boggling and the proceeds support the many charitable efforts of South Presbyterian Church.http://www.southpres.org/   Click on their website for a map etc.

The Attic Sale is Saturday, Sept. 19 from 9 AM to 3PM and Sunday, Sept. 20 from 11AM to 2PM.

Now the million dollar question is: do I dare go and buy more stuff? Or, do go take some more pics of my beloved dahlias?
