Cat Saturday #52 -- Tough Guys Love Cats

Quote de jour

News & Mews
I love it when stereotypes are shattered as they were on last night's new TV show Rescue Ink on Nat Geo.  You wouldn't want to bump into these tattooed biker dudes in a dark alley, unless you were a kitty in need of rescuing. Take a peek at the previews. We rate this show a perfect score of 5 purrs.

Instead of our usual cat of the week selection, we have a group of homeless strays. I was moved by a story about a woman in the depressed middle of Michigan who feeds this colony of exceptionally beautiful stray, semi-feral cats. She can't afford to have them spayed and neutered and even feeding them is a hardship.  If placed in the local shelter, they would be euthanized and not humanely by injection but by the barbaric gassing method. They face a long cold, winter and without intervention, by spring unfortunately  their numbers will grow. If you'd to like help, e-mail me privately.

Link of the Week
Wherever you live, I guarantee you there are homeless feral cats.  If you'd like to help, I found an excellent DIY guide about ferals plus  an all around great website and blog by Carol Manos.  One person can make a difference.

Coco, my Siamese no longer enjoys going outdoors, but with some coaxing enjoyed the balmy Indian Summer this week. I can't  believe she's going to be 15 next week! Her beauty has not escaped the notice of Domino, our outdoor feral. Coco plays hard to get but I know she secretly has a crush on him.

Domino's always knows which way the wind blows from his favorite new spot on the porch, but not for long. Plans are in the works for a new winter shelter.

Coco's unflappable brother, Merlin tolerates her all her whims. Does anyone know of any books or films about vampire cats? I'm doing research for a book on vampires.

Cat Art of the Week

Another antique illustration from our continuing series.

Have a furry great week and love a cat, or two, or...

You know - i have heard about those tattooed dudes who love cats. And who rescue cats.

Do you know Anna G. Vanwinkle? On Gather/Facebook? She did an article about 3 years ago about them. She is also involved in cat/dog rescue.

Domino is so cute and Coco is beautiful.

    Merlin, the King.

Have not heardr of Vampire Cats - but you can be the first!

Some writers have been told that the market for vampires is saturated, only to then discover that the books are still selling wildly!

I think Vampire Cats would be great. There is anow a Young Adult chapter of RWA.

I like the picture of Coco standing out against the green the best. I know we do have feral cats here. I did help rescue some dumped kittens last month. Two of them disappeared but the other two went to good homes. I hate that their owner thought it was okay to just leave them with no food or shelter and not care what happened to them. They were obviously used to be handled and kitty litter trained.

Thank you for telling the story of my dear strays. I am very concerned about them.
