Windows of Opportunity
Quote de jour

I love photographing windows for the rich layered imagery laden with metaphors. If I come across windows that are old, antique, dirty, worn or broken, I feel I've discovered an Alladin's cave of treasure. But beauty is always in the eye of the beholder, eh? These are few recent 'treasures'.

I love these, Layla. Absolutely love these.
Windows are a great metaphor and natural photo opp for a myriad of reflective surfaces.

I think I've missed more than my share of those opportunities. Your window shots are very thoughtful.

We all have, but the beauty is to stay mindful of the ones coming up.

Hi Layla Catching up on a few late night emails, listening to the rain. Don't know what inspired me to go your blog, have not been in touch lately, so I guess I miss having you around and thought I would tune in. Canadian Thanksgiving approaching this weekend, with lots of rain on its way. Love your windows of opportunity, yes, how true. Feeling the winds of change in the air, it seems like November already. I just finished picking up a bunch of magazines at my library, too. Feels like I am eavesdropping on an old friend. The view from the window series, reminded me of the times I stayed in the farmhouse and I remember that maple tree. Happy belated to the kids, 15 years? yikes, they look marvelous by the way. I will call soon. Keep up the creative way, glad to see the web and blog were rescued from the dreaded, " did you back up your files" curse. T

Windows, like mirrors, exercise an endless fascination. Both made of glass and yet they represent such different worlds. An aunt of mine used to say: "Don't look in the mirror; look out the window." I've learned through my own experience what great advice that is.

Much wisdom in your aunt's words and yours...
