Highway Hell

Quote de jour

I love road trips and have learned to expect the unexpected. The images above were taken on the Mass Pike on Sunday driving from Boston to New York: fall foliage at its peak and snow flakes the size of  Frisbees. The flakes turned to sleet and the road into a giant slip 'n slide. I made a silent prayer. We passed three major collisions and wondered how anyone could survive the crumpled metal skeletons. In the age old tradition, every car slowed down to crawl past the carnage and flashing lights. I made another prayer.

Even the most mundane road trip is peppered with something unusual, if you keep your eyes open. The highlight for me was this beautiful green vintage ford which provided inspiration for a story I'm working on. When writers are asked where they get their ideas, I  say everywhere, if you know where to look.

Ah boston to NYC in last Sunday's so-called Nor'easter. That FORD is something else. I know what you mean about road trips, and also about inspiration. I am glad today is sunny.

Sunny here too today. I won't drive in a Nor'easter again time soon

I'm glad you made it back safely. I have been truly trying to find beauty in my own back yard with my photography instead of wishing for more spectacularly wonderful places to visit and take pictures. Same concept and a good reminder I needed today.

Yes, whether it's creative or spiritual inspiration you seek, we don't need to go any further than our own back yard. LOL, sometimes literally.
