The Falling Leaves & More

Quote de jour

Usually I bring the vintage wicker porch furniture inside for the winter, but this settee is on its last legs, literally.  It will stay outdoors to weather and to remind me of summer. To me wicker is all about summer: ice tea on sultry afternoons, fanning away mosquitoes, reading on the porch barefoot feeling the sun toast my skin. Seeing the dried leaves on wicker brought a pang of nostalgia.

What could be more cheesy than Edith Piaf singing the old Nat King Cole song "The Falling Leaves"? It's pissing rain outside, the leaves are falling in soggy piles, and oddly enough this video will cheer you up if you have the blues.

That is a lovely Piaf song. I feel our good seasons are too short.

Am staying in bed as much as possible for a few days... sore throat.

Oh my - I remember many seasons go by with your fabulous wicker set. If walls could speak Nice shot w/ the leaves.

Edith - I don't know, she is always that bit too melancholy and haunting. When I think of her I sense she was a forlorn woman looking OUT the window wanting what she could not have instead of a woman simply living and enjoying what is - whatever the season.
