Cat Saturday #58 -- Philosopher Cats

Quote de jour
Cat philosophy 101: I am, therefore give me tuna, chin rubs and your soul.
~LMW

It's philosophy week at Cat Saturday. All cat lovers know that cats are natural philosophers and don't need any help from mere humans but I couldn't resist. Cats are my muse. They inspire as they knead their curved claws into my heart and maybe yours?
To get into the mood, listen to The Cat Fugue by 18th c. composer Scarlatti and inspired by his cat Pulcinella who used to walk up and down his harpsichord keyboard curious about the sounds it made.

That's my old girl; growing cranky, creaky but wise.

Thanks go out to Sunil from Bangalore, India for this shot of a stray Indian kitty. I think cats from other countries look different. This proud feline seems one step closer to her ancient roots.

Merlin & Coco out for their daily constitutional. Coco doesn't understand the concept of falling leaves. To her failing vision they resemble dry, falling birds or bats.

I don't know this friendly cat's name but she has a home and unofficial title of street greeter.

Domino, my outdoor feral is adjusting to the colder weather and a new nest. He's doing well and his coat has never been cleaner.
Poor kitty grooming can be an indicator of illness. Domino has survived four or five winters outdoors and every year I wonder if this will be the year he chooses to come indoors. He did come inside for dinner last night. Stay tuned.

Kitty trivia-- Sir Isaac Newton was a cat lover and invented the cat flap door so he wouldn't be disturbed by his cat's ins and outs.

Cat of the Week
No, you aren't seeing double. These are not Siamese twins but brother and sister Cleo and Leo. These stunning tabbies are almost identical but Leo (bottom left) has a white bib and socks. These California kitties were ten weeks old when adopted late last year by cat lovers Don and Lisa from a private rescue group called Bitten by a Kitten. This group rescues orphan kittens slated for euthanasia at other shelters. Cleo and Leo have grown to nine pounds, and happily live the good life in San Rafael, California. They are deeply bonded and embody the reason why cats are better off being adopted in pairs, especially litter mates. Technically, they're still kittens with kittenish behavior. Leo loves to steal bread and take it into his little 'castle' and chow down.

Cat Link of Week
It's National Shelter Appreciation Week -- and what better way to celebrate than to join Care2 and Adopt-a-Pet.com in promoting shelter and rescue animal adoption through our new America's Favorite Animal Shelter contest!

Cat Art of the Week --- from our antique book series.

Have a sweet week with your kittens...and if you don't have one...there might be one or two waiting for you.

wow, that Scarlatti is a great piece of music. And so is Sunil's cat. Not music, but great. Yes, looks closer to an agouti tabby. Interesting too, to note that only 20 years ago, most orange tabbie had much less white on them, but now that is rare, as most have a lot of white on them.

I was wondering if Scarlatti's cat was Siamese or a Tux, as all our Siamese and our one Tux walked on keys.

Cleo and Leo are pretty, as are Coco, Merlin and Domino.

Going back to bed. Flu. Doc tomorrow.
