Friday The 13th From The Bench

Quote de jour

If you're feeling gloomy today, here's a fun fact about the supposedly unlucky day. Mark Twain once was the 13th guest at a dinner party. A friend warned him not to go. "It was bad luck," Twain later told the friend. "They only had food for twelve." Superstitious diners in Paris can hire a quatorzieme, or professional 14th guest. Ah, the French and their love of food. Have a fruitful day. Make your own luck, but don't ask me out for dinner tonight.

that is the best black and white photo I've seen in a long time.

I am not at all superstitious. But funny about the French.

The NY Hilton used to skip the 13th floor, back in the 60s and 70s. Not sure about now since it has been renovated, at least once since then.

Thanks, I love black & white photography. It feels especially appropriate at this moody time of the year. I haven't seen missing 13th floors in a long time.
