Mandala Mondays -- The Tree of Life

Quote de jour
"Follow after it and it proves endless. Go before it, no beginning can be found."
~Lao Tzu

Nature is the source of most of the mandalas I draw or paint. There is sacred geometry found everywhere. Normally, I prefer creating geometric forms containing symbols but sometimes, I think out of the box, or in the case of mandalas, out of the circle. These recent photographs of trees, speak to me of every element; the earthiness of their roots, the airy spaces where branches and leaves sway, the water contained from root to tip and the fire of life force.

This mandala reflects the nature polarity of trees. They are rooted in deep stillness and yet fluid with water and sap. They have light as air leaves and heavy trunks. They stretch equally upwards towards the sun and downwards to the unseen. As above so below. Their polarity reflects the polarity within all of us. By reflecting on the nature of polarity we can restore balance and harmony within.
