Westchester Wednesdays - The Intersection of Old & New & The World's Narrowest Store

Quote de jour
"Architecture is frozen music."

Why is it that towns with charming little shops are inevitably old or made to look old? These are a few gems from Main Street Tarrytown, N.Y. that boast exquisite brick Victorian and Queen Anne architecture. Antique shops, restaurants and art galleries all are encased in a patina of charm. Even number 13 is more charming than unlucky. The Curio Shop, must be the narrowest double-sided store front I've ever seen. The prettiest brickwork houses Juliana Rose Antiques and The Canfin Gallery (formerly Gallery Du Soleil)
truly is the intersection of old (architecture) and new (art).http://www.gallerydusoleil.com

I simply love the 19th century, the time when people had leisure and enjoyed fine things, and buildings were built to last. At least for those who were of certain classes, of which I certainly would not have been.

Beautiful photos, thank you for sharing them.

I just sent this post to a bunch of my friends as I agree with most of what you’re saying here and the way you’ve presented it is awesome.
