Going up the River to Sing Sing

Quote de jour
"There is one kind of prison where the man is behind bars, and everything that he desires is outside; and there is another kind where the things are behind the bars, and the man is outside."
~Upton Sinclair

I could say I found myself in prison by accident or I should say, outside of prison, and not just any prison but the infamous Sing Sing.
On a pleasant sunny day recently, I went  for a drive and a stroll by the Hudson. In the distance, by the water's edge, I noticed guard
posts. I felt a jab in my heart when I heard the sounds of men, full of angry testosterone yelling from the prison yard. Prisoners, close enough to hear, too far to see and yet close enough to be touched by. I followed their siren call up a quiet road, a back entrance  to the prison. The vibes were thick with oppression. A sadness enveloped me when I saw the high fence. No chance of escape. A guard shouted at me from the tower,"No photos." I have been known to break a few rules and turned around to walk back, but not before snapping a few.
