How to Find Peace During the Holiday Madness
Photo Quote de Jour

Since tossing my cell phone into the washing machine by accident this week, I feel calmer being unplugged. I don't suggest you do the same, but here are my top three tips for finding Zen moments in the midst of holiday madness.
1) Where ever you are, stay aware of your breathing. Breathe into your belly what you want (peace, energy etc.) and exhale what you don't want (stress, anger, anxiety). Waiting provides some of the best opportunities to do this: waiting for a green light, in line for the cashier, waiting for an elevator, waiting for a friend who is running late. While you're doing this, don't do anything else; which bring us to #2.
2) Focus one thing at a time. Multi-tasking has been proven to be less productive and leads to mishaps and more stress.
3) Less is more. Do less. Say NO. Do you honestly think anyone will remember that you baked three kinds of cookies instead of six like last year? That's what I did less this year, and while you're at it, toss out the guilty feelings, you'll instantly feel ten pounds lighter.

Such a beautiful phoot, and such calming thoughts....I only do as much as I can handle...having learned from all the lessons of the past, which you so aptly recited here.
But never put my cellphone in the washer...
And today, listening to calming music of Cohen.

As a songwriter, Leonard is unparalleled. Such a beautiful, tragic imagination. I wish I could find his house again in Upper Westmount. Saw it once when someone drove me there, but could never find it...again. A street maybe off of the streets near the Oratory, a straight street sort of, rather than the curvy, hilly streets. A ranch, range modern, italianate ornate range long house, so unlike the graystone Victorians. I will have to one day make a methoidcal tour...
Maybe I should email him and tell him how much he has meant to me....
