What I'm Reading This Week-- Jan. 10, 2010 -- My favorite book to re-read
Quote de jour

Shades of violet will continue to be in vogue for decor and fashion. And if you keep what you love long enough, it will fall back in fashion. Shades of snarkiness, you tell me. This New Yorker cover really disturbed me. Lovely retro design with piercing social commentary. Is this what connection between two people has come to? Are cell phones and PDAs substituting for true intimacy and experience? Look at us having a great time skiing, but by connecting outside, we don't connect inside, or with each other. All that remains is a photo/e-mail/tweet memory of something that may or may not have happened.
My favorite books for re-reading are anything from Cheri Huber, a Zen Buddhist teacher. The first book I read of hers was The Key and it remains the book I've re-read several times a year since the late '90's. Yup, it's that good. It's so good, I've lent countless copies which never get returned. The original copy looked handmade and hand-lettered and I'd love it back, but I can't remember who I lent it to. It's the book I turn to when I need spiritual insight. Cheri Huber has written 19 books, all in a minimalist handwritten style.http://www.cherihuber.com
I have one word to say to her: THANK-YOU!
Angels have fascinated me since childhood. I've been working with more angel energy lately, and who better to gain more insights than from Doreen Virtue, the original angel whisperer.

Wow, technology has destroyed us. Yep. I believe it. I wrote about that in The Quill Speaks.
Angels are very big in publishing, too. Angel themed fiction.
That Einstein quote is hilarious. I don't believe a word of it. Reading IS using the mind. Not so for TV, a passive exercise, neurologically.

Interesting Einstein quote. I utterly and completely disagree - I think reading is essential for creative pursuits, especially for writers.

I agree writers need to read, but can be a method of procrastination if writers are reading than writing.
