What Do You Notice?
Photo Quote de Jour

Thousands of commuters walk through this doorway every day at New York's Grand Central Station. While I don't commute every day, I've passed through this portal countless times without noticing the beautiful pink marble and lacy scroll work from a gentler era, and I'm sure I'm not alone. Who has time to focus on pretty architectural details when we are mired in the past or the future? Our focus is often time related. Can we get to the train on time? What did I forget at the office? What's next on our to-do list? By focusing on the past or the future, we rob ourselves of the often unexpected joys of the present moment. For one moment, I looked up and was rewarded with this beauty. If you look up right now, where ever you are: what do you notice? I guarantee it will be something new.

So true, we fail to notice the details and beauty of life. I am taking it slow today. Sleeping, errands, exercise. No writing.
I have not been inside Grand Central Station nor Penn, but just on the outside.
There is a publishing imprint of Hachette called Grand Central.

I notice what looks very similar to a claudagh design. Irish ceremonial symbol often used as a wedding ring safeguarding the taken heart.

That's beautiful! It's like a Rorshach test. Everyone sees something different.

The entrance looks like something that came from the early centuries. From my perspective, it looks like you're entering a time portal where you are in the past going to the present with machines, technology, and all that stuff. You are right... we only become conscious of the things that we pay attention to. We should all learn to live and feel the present moment of our lives.
Thanks for sharing, Layla!

Brilliant observation. I missed the juxtaposition of old and modern technologies. When that portal was built telephones were the old-fashioned crank models in wooden boxes.
