No Red Roses

Photo quote de jour

I'd written a long blog post yesterday to go with the image above, but the gods of love had other plans. When I clicked the button to publish, it disappeared into the ether. It's not in my saved file either, so what a gal to do but go with the flow. I noticed those roses as I was leaving Trader Joe's the other day. You'd have to be blind not to notice the sea of red for Valentine's Day. Frankly, I'm sick of it, especially red roses. No lover of mine has ever given me red roses, at least not twice. Now peach, lavender, creamy yellow tinged with orange or dusky pink would be more than welcome. I never waited for someone to buy me roses either. There were many Valentine's Days when I didn't have a special someone, but wait we all have a special someone, ourselves. So, if you are a singleton this V Day, $9.99 can buy a bouquet like the ones above. When I was single, I always had fresh flowers in the house. It wasn't about buying into the pressures of Hallmark holiday. It was about loving myself enough to surround myself with beauty. Emma Goldman, the famous anarchist might have preferred roses to diamonds, but I say, why not have both? You don't have to wait for a lover to buy yourself diamonds either, or chocolates or lingerie or anything else. Love yourself.
You deserve it.

Tell hubs to give you red roses. I firmly believe that we sometimes (or often) have to tell people what we want and what they should get us to make us happy, because some people, (and that is usually the MALE people in our lives) are clueless, having been born, for better or worse, with only ONE X chromosome. If they had two, they'd be as clued in as we gals.

I love flowers, but so does Mao. Still, I think I might buy roses for myself. My hubs buys chocolate, which is okay with me. Still, I'd rather go dancing. I literally have to drag him, but it makes me happy.

I love flowers, but rarelyk buy them. Mao and Ched both ate the Pointsettia, but I think they leave Roses alone.

In fact, I will go right now and buy myself a few big, juicy red roses.

Red roses are my least favorite color and I've always had to tell men not to buy me red ones LOL it's ingrained in their DNA.

Trader Joe's is a chain of grocery stores in the U.S. with unique, healthy products at fabulous prices. Even their flowers are the best bargain around.

Of course, we do deserve it, and even much more. I'm nor obsessed with roses either, but sometimes I buy pink or yellow ones. And I ask my friends to buy me pot flowers, as they don't wither, and remind you of the person who presented it for a very long time.
